Termite prevention plans

Termites are a pressure on the house, not a one-off event. An annual plan keeps a barrier or a bait system live, gets the property looked at every year, and keeps a warranty in force. Call and we put you through to a local termite company.

  • Real person answers, day or night
  • Same/next day appointments in most areas
  • Price agreed before work begins
  • Nationwide network of local termite companies

Is this what you have?

The signs

  • You have had a treatment and the warranty is coming up for renewal
  • Neighbours have had termites, or the area has known pressure
  • The house has a crawl space, a slab join, or timber close to soil
  • You have never had the property inspected and do not know its history
  • A bait system is installed and nobody is monitoring it
  • You want the problem caught early rather than found by accident

Heads up. A prevention plan is a contract, not a subscription you can ignore. Before signing, get the visit frequency, the renewal price, the notice period and exactly what the warranty pays for in writing. Ask specifically whether the renewal price is fixed or can rise each year.

On the day

What the technician does

  1. Annual inspection

The same walk-round as a full inspection — perimeter, crawl space, accessible timber — repeated every year, with a written report each time so you can see what changed.

  2. Bait monitoring

Where a bait system is installed, stations get opened and checked on a schedule, hits get recorded and bait gets replaced. This is the whole point of a bait system; unmonitored stations do nothing.

  3. Re-treatment when it is needed

If activity turns up inside the covered area, the company comes back and treats it under the plan rather than quoting you again.

  4. Conditions and housekeeping

You get told what to keep clear — soil grade below the siding, firewood away from the walls, downpipes draining away, crawl space vents open. Ignoring these can void the warranty.

Practical

Getting ready, and what it runs

What you provide

Access once a year, and a heads-up if you alter the grade, add a deck or patio, or do landscaping against the house. Those changes can break a treated zone and often affect the warranty.

Term and cancellation

Ask how long the agreement runs, what notice you must give, and whether the warranty ends the moment you stop paying. It usually does.

If you sell

Some plans transfer to a new owner, sometimes for a fee, and some do not transfer at all. Worth knowing before you need it.

What moves the price

  • Size of the property and linear feet of foundation
  • A monitored bait system versus a liquid barrier to maintain
  • Re-treatment only, or damage cover as well
  • Regional termite pressure
  • Number of scheduled visits a year

Questions

Termite prevention plans — questions we get a lot

Is an annual plan worth it?

In high-pressure regions, generally yes — the annual fee is small next to structural repairs. In a low-risk area with a slab and no history, a periodic inspection may be enough. Ask the inspector what they actually see locally.

What happens if I skip a renewal?

The warranty lapses. Restarting it later usually means a fresh inspection and sometimes a fresh treatment, at full price.

Does a plan guarantee I will not get termites?

No, and be wary of anyone who says otherwise. It means they keep looking, the treatment stays live, and re-treatment is covered when something turns up.

Can I keep the plan with a different company?

Not normally — the warranty is tied to the company that treated the property. A new company will usually want its own inspection and its own treatment before it will warrant anything.
